Enroll by January 15 for Coverage Beginning February 1, 2021
ALBANY, N.Y. (January 14, 2021) – NY State of Health, the state’s official health plan Marketplace, is reminding New Yorkers that they can still enroll in a high quality, low-cost health plan during the Open Enrollment Period – if they act fast. January 15 is the deadline to enroll in coverage that is effective February 1, 2021.
“The Marketplace offers a choice of comprehensive, affordable health plan options in every county of the state,” said NY State of Health Executive Director, Donna Frescatore. “We urge uninsured New Yorkers to enroll right away, so they can ensure they have health coverage as the battle against COVID-19 continues.”
Free, enrollment assistors are available by phone to help individuals find the best plan for themselves and their families. Enrollment is open for all NY State of Health programs: Medicaid, the Essential Plan, Child Health Plus, and Qualified Health Plans. Most consumers who enroll through NY State of Health are eligible for financial assistance to lower the cost of their coverage. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency, consumers already enrolled in Medicaid, Child Health Plus, or the Essential Plan will have their coverage continued automatically and do not need to renew at this time.
Consumers can apply for coverage online at https://nystateofhealth.ny.gov/ or by phone at 1-855-355-5777 and by connecting with a free enrollment assistor. The Open Enrollment Period for enrollment in a Qualified Health Plan ends January 31, 2021.
