Brokers who wish to sell health insurance through NY State of Health (NYSOH) Marketplace, must be currently licensed by the Department of Financial Services (DFS) and certified by NY State of Health (NYSOH) marketplace. Effective August 31, 2020 NYSOH broker certification courses will be administered by NYSOH completely online and free of charge. The old NYSOH registration process on the DFS self-service portal will be shut off beginning August 28, 2020. NYSOH certification courses will no longer be offered by DFS approved education providers and are not approved for Continuing Education credits.
New brokers can set up an account and access NYSOH approved certification course(s) on the NYSOH website by clicking here.
Brokers must pass the associated exam at the end of both the Small Business and Individual Certification Courses to become certified to sell on the marketplace.
If a broker was previously certified by NYSOH but their NYSOH certification lapsed, they can reactivate their account by logging in to their existing account and clicking the “reactivate” button.
Please Note: These new NYSOH approved courses are the only courses that will qualify a producer for certification to sell insurance through NY State of Health marketplace.
