Exchange Stakeholder Meeting: Wakely Consulting Group Study on Risk Adjustment and Reinsurance Programs

An Exchange stakeholder meeting was held in New York City on May 11. During this meeting, Ross Winkelman, FSA, MAAA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, Member of the American Academy of Actuaries) from Wakely Consulting Group, discussed the risk adjustment and reinsurance programs provided by the Affordable Care Act to mitigate the impact of adverse selection and lessen the financial risk health insurance issuers may face when health reform implementation begins in 2014. Ross also discussed options available to New York for the administration of these programs.
