Press Release: Certified Enrollment Assistors will be on-site at free Back-to-School Events Across NYS

ALBANY, N.Y. (August 30, 2019) - NY State of Health, the state’s official health plan Marketplace is educating families about affordable, quality health insurance coverage to help students get covered as a new school year gets underway. Enrollment Assistors will be available at free Back-to-School events throughout the state to answer consumer questions, review their plan options and guide them through the enrollment process.

“Access to high-quality affordable health coverage is important for the entire family, and essential for a healthy school start so students may receive primary and preventive health services, vision and hearing screenings, and necessary immunizations,” said NY State of Health Executive Director Donna Frescatore. “Parents and caregivers can get one-on-one expert help from NY State of Health certified enrollment assistors at Back to School events to choose the right plan for each family member and see what financial assistance is available.”

Under Governor Cuomo’s leadership, New York’s Child Health Plus program has been a tremendous success, currently serving more than 400,000 New York children who may not otherwise have access to health coverage. Child Health Plus, which is open for enrollment year-round, is comprehensive health insurance for children up to age 19. Child Health Plus covers services including preventive care such as routine checkups, immunizations, doctor visits, prescription coverage, as well as hospital care, dental and vision care, and more. All health plans offered through NY State of Health cover preventive care, such as routine doctor visits and screenings, and pre-existing conditions at no additional cost.
