Press Release: NY State of Health and NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets Highlight Quality, Low-Cost Health Coverage at Farmers Markets this Summer

ALBANY, N.Y. (July 11, 2018) – NY State of Health, the state’s official health plan Marketplace, continues its partnership with the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets by educating families about affordable health insurance coverage at more than 24 farmers markets throughout the state this summer. Certified enrollment assistors will be available at select farmers markets to answer questions about enrolling in a health plan through the Marketplace.

Details on which farmers market locations will have NY State of Health Assistors on site are included here.

Through the partnership, New Yorkers are encouraged to lead healthier lives with access to fresh, locally grown foods and affordable, quality health insurance coverage.

All health plans offered through NY State of Health cover preventive care, such as routine doctor visits and screenings, at no additional cost. Enrollment in Medicaid, Child Health Plus and the Essential Plan is open all year. Open Enrollment for 2019 begins November 1st, but some consumers who have recently experienced a qualifying life event may be eligible to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan through a special enrollment period.
