Press Release: NY State of Health Educates College Graduates, Students About Affordable Health Coverage

In-Person Assistors will work directly with College Students Statewide to Enroll them in Quality Affordable Health Coverage

December 15 is the Deadline to Enroll for January 1, 2019 Coverage

ALBANY, NY (December 3, 2018) --NY State of Health, the state’s official health plan Marketplace, is hosting more than 20 informational and enrollment events at colleges across New York State. Certified enrollment assistors will be present on campuses throughout the week of December 3 to speak with students and those who are graduating about how to get affordable, quality health coverage and enroll in a health plan through the Marketplace.

“Many college students who may no longer be on their parent’s health insurance plan will qualify for low-cost or free coverage through the Marketplace,” said NY State of Health Executive Director Donna Frescatore. “Through our partnership with SUNY and New York colleges, we are able to work directly with students and talk about their choices when it comes to health insurance.”

“The State University of New York (SUNY) continues to recognize the importance of students having health coverage during matriculation,” said SUNY Associate Provost for Student Affairs John L. Graham. “In partnership with NY State of Health, we are encouraged by their willingness to offer in-person assistance to eligible students that may need health insurance coverage.  This is an excellent opportunity and we applaud NY State of Health for their support.”

Details on the colleges participating in these events with NY State of Health can be found here
