ALBANY, N.Y. (July 21, 2015) - NY State of Health (NYSOH), the state’s official health plan Marketplace, is partnering with the New York State Association of County Health Officials (NYSACHO), New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs (NYSAAF), and local Cornell Cooperative Extension sites, to make Marketplace information available at several local county fairs event to help New Yorkers learn about getting affordable health coverage through the Marketplace.
“County fairs provide family friendly fun throughout the summer months and are a perfect opportunity to spread the message about the affordable coverage options available through the Marketplace,” said NYSOH Executive Director Donna Frescatore.
“Through NY State of Health, New Yorkers now have access to affordable, quality health care coverage and important primary preventive care for themselves and their families,” said NYSACHO President Dr. Sherlita Amler. “Local health departments are pleased to work with the New York State Department of Health to share information about the marketplace as part of our public health outreach at our county fairs.”
NYSAAF President, Robert D. Simpson said, “We’re pleased to partner with NYSOH, NYSACHO and the Cornell Cooperative Extension to give people the opportunity to learn more about getting affordable health insurance.”
Educational materials and in person assistors will be available at several county fairs throughout the summer to answer questions about coverage through the Marketplace, help people apply if they qualify for a Special Open Enrollment Period (SEP), or get ready to apply when the next open enrollment period begins on November 1.
