On August 12, 2016, NY State of Health released demographic enrollment data on the more than 2.8 million New Yorkers who enrolled in a health plan through the Marketplace through January 31, 2016, the end of the open enrollment period. The data show that enrollment in the Marketplace increased by 33 percent, or nearly 700,000 enrollees from the previous enrollment period; 92 percent of those enrolled through the Marketplace report that they did not have health insurance at the time they applied. As of January 31, 2016, 2,833,823 New Yorkers were enrolled into a health plan through NY State of Health.
