On May 11, 2023, the Public Health Emergency (“PHE”) declared by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services expires. This update is provided to address coverage for COVID-19 testing and immunizations in Essential Plan following the expiration of the PHE.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information
Protect yourself and your family. Get Your COVID-19 Booster. The New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend individuals 12 and older get the new bivalent COVID-19 booster. All New Yorkers, including children 6 months of age and older, should stay up to date with all recommended vaccine doses. Booster doses will maximize your protection and are free and available statewide. If you have questions, talk to your healthcare provider or vaccine administrator.

NY State of Health 1332 Waiver Information Page

On May 12, 2023, New York submitted its final Section 1332 State Innovation Waiver application to expand the Essential Plan to New Yorkers with incomes up to 250% of the Federal Poverty Level to the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services and Treasury. Through this expansion of Essential Plan coverage, the State seeks to increase access to high quality, affordable health insurance for low- and moderate-income individuals.
