Your best protection against fraud is being informed! Starting October 1, 2013, you can apply for health insurance through NY State of Health, The Official Health Plan Marketplace, on nystateofhealth.ny.gov. This document describes ways you can protect yourself from fraud.
This report was submitted to the NYS Legislature as required by Subdivision 1 of Section 206 of New York State Public Health Law enacted as part of the 2013-14 State Budget. The report outlines the progress and preparedness for the State of New York to begin accepting applications for insurance from individuals and small businesses starting on October 1, 2013 for coverage effective on January 1, 2014.

Plans offered in NY State of Health are available in four easy-to-compare metal tiers (platinum, gold, silver and bronze). Plans on the Marketplace cover doctor’s visits; hospital stays; emergency care; maternity and newborn care; mental health and substance abuse disorder services; prescription drugs; rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices; laboratory services; preventive and wellness services, chronic disease management and pediatric dental and vision.
Marketplace Customer Service Center Representatives and In-Person Assistors/Navigators, who guide consumers through the process of shopping for and enrolling in health insurance, are available to help consumers in their language. Customer Service Center Representatives, who are available by phone, can accommodate more than 170 languages through staff and translation assistance. In-Person Assistors/Navigators speak the languages spoken in the communities they serve.
In its effort to inform the public, businesses, and practitioners, the Internal Revenue Service unveiled a new website on August 15, 2013 on the tax provisions of the Affordable Care Act. The homepage has three sections that explain the tax benefits and responsibilities for individuals and families, employers, and other organizations, with links and information for each group.
