Health Insurance Coverage Update - April 2023
On April 20, 2023, NY State of Health released the 2023 Health Insurance Coverage Update, a detailed summary of NY State of Health enrollment, including demographics, quality measures, and the cost savings millions of New Yorkers who have comprehensive health insurance through the Marketplace. As of January 31, 2023, NY State of Health enrollment is nearly 6.9 million, or more than one in three New Yorkers across the state.

Health Insurance Coverage Update: Impact of ARPA Subsidies
Millions of New Yorkers have benefitted from access to affordable Marketplace health insurance coverage since March 2020 thanks to flexibilities permitted during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) as well as enhanced tax credits available under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) that are set to expire in 2022, absent congressional action to extend them. These policies ensure that consumers have the security of affordable, comprehensive health coverage during the uncertain time of unemployment/loss of income, assuring access to health care when it is needed most.

Note that data for ZIP Codes with 50 or fewer plan selections are not included and are indicated with an asterisk.

Millions of New Yorkers have benefitted from access to affordable Marketplace health insurance coverage since March 2020 thanks to the flexibilities permitted during the COVID-10 Public Health Emergency (PHE) and enhanced tax credits available under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) that expire in 2022 if Congress doesn’t take action.
